    The combination of technologies, combined in the BWD laser blanking process, leads to a significant production rate advantage over traditionally recognized Sheet Fed Laser productivity and associated pricing.     The elimination of large blanking dies significantly reduces non-value added use of floor space.  The efficient electronic storage of the data necessary to produce configured blanks of all shapes affords rapid cueing for production and allows for small incremental modifications to optimize subsequent stamping/forming or trimming processes.

  • SUPERIOR EDGE QUALITY

    Laser cut sheet metal edges provide a recognizable quality improvement through the elimination of mechanical working along with burrs and/or slivers on the cut edges.  Laser cut edges are “weld ready” for laser welded applications.  The High power density associated with a fiber optic laser beam does not create an appreciable heat affected zone in high strength or alloyed steel grades.  Non-contact laser cutting also eliminates the possibility of diminishing edge quality over the lifespan of mechanical blank tooling and press equipment.

    Laser blanking eliminates the constraints that exist with mechanical blanking dies related to blank shape and nesting opportunities. As a result our customers can add previously unattainable stamping relief features in blank outline and realize better material utilization at a cost that represents value.

  • ELIMINATES BLANKING DIES

    With laser blanking, there is no need for capital investment in mechanical blanking dies and associated presses, cutting tools, die storage and logistics.  The process is material agnostic, working equally well for all steel alloys as well as Aluminum and other metallic sheet materials. Additionally, incremental or breakthrough engineering changes to blank design in order to support improved yield and stamping efficiency are easily accomplished.
